We’re very proud of our wine department. We provide our customers with a wide variety of quality wines. Many of these wines are very seldom seen at other grocery stores much less the chain and box stores. At any given time we may offer wines from France, Italy, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Chile, Argentina Washington State, California, Oregon, Lebanon, New York State, Australia and Indiana.

We taste what we sell and our inventory changes as often as weekly. We welcome and encourage special orders or requests. You’ll find our pricing very aggressive when compared to other retailers. We love wine and think it is an essential part of any meal!

Oh, and we care about beer, too! Our beer selection is carefully chosen and our pricing is competitive with other retailers, too. From the King of Beers to Sam Adams to locally (Bloomington) produced Upland Brewery we carry it all. We cater to import lovers carrying Sammy Smith, Newcastle, Guinness, Harp, Bass, and more. And, we welcome special orders with beer, too.

John Davis

John Davis, self professed “wine geek” and store owner, manages the beer and wine departments.

“We taste what we sell and take pride in finding a $12.00 wine that tastes like a $25.00 wine”, says Davis.

John has been with Brown County IGA since graduating from DePauw University in 1988. He took over the beer and wine departments in 1990.

Davis explains, “At that time, we had only 8 feet of beer and, maybe, 4 feet of wine. Now we have 20 feet of wine and 24 feet of beer. And that doesn’t include specialty racking or floor displays”.
